Country-made Bomb Thrown at Police Station in Puducherry

The police personnel gave a hot chase , but the anti-socials managed to escape, police said.

PUDUCHERRY: Unidentified persons threw  an explosive substance at the Mudaliarpet police station on Thursday night. The substance exploded with a loud noise creating panic in the area. However, no one was injured in the daring incident.

Police said around 7.45 pm on Thursday, the two miscreants, who reached on a bike,  threw the substance in to the police station, which burst leaving a crator on the ground near to a tree inside the Police station. The explosive substance is suspected to be country-made bomb.

The police personnel gave a hot chase , but the anti-socials managed to escape, police said.

Superintendent of Police Gunasekaran, local MLA A Baskar rushed to the spot.

The incident happened when the police and administration are taking steps to tighten the security for the smooth conduct of the assembly polls schedueld to be held on May 16.

In 2004, an anti-social element, Jayakumar, was murdered inside the Mudaliarpet police station using a country made bomb.
