CHENNAI: The Chennai Traffic Police have made traffic arrangements at a few places on the eve of New Year to regulate the traffic. According to a media note, the traffic arrangements on Kamarajar Salai and Rajaji Salai are: All Foreshore Road entries will be barricaded at 9 pm on December 31.
Vehicles inside the Foreshore Road will be allowed to exit through Kamarajar Salai only up to 9 pm. After 9 pm, parked vehicles inside will be allowed to exit only from the rear of the Light House. Vehicles will not be allowed on Kamarajar Salai between the stretch from Gandhi Statue up to War Memorial from 9 pm on December 31.
Approach roads towards Kamaraj Salai, Lloyds Road, Besant Road, Ayodhi Nagar, Sunguvar Street, Bharathi Salai, Wallajah Road, Swami Sivananda Salai junctions will be barricaded to prevent vehicles from entering Kamarajar Salai from 9 pm onwards. Vehicles will not be allowed from Wallajah point and RBI North subway towards War Memorial from 9 pm and will be diverted to NSC Bose Road to reach EVR Salai and Anna Salai. Vehicles coming from RK Salai, Wallajah Road, Bharathi Salai, Lloyds Road, Dr Besant Road, Adams Road, Flagstaff Road, War Memorial will not be allowed from 9 pm towards Kamarajar Salai and commuters can park their vehicles in designated parking places.
Vehicles coming from Adyar towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted at Karaneeswarer Koil Street and Santhome High Road junction towards Karaneeswarer Koil Junction to take the route via Natesan Road, Ice House Junction, Triplicane High Road, Wallajah Road to reach Anna Salai.
Vehicles from the North intending to go towards Adyar will be diverted from RBI North from 9 pm towards NSC Bose Road, EVR Salai, Anna Salai, Wellington, GP Road, Royapettah High Road, Luz Junction, RK Mutt Road to reach their destination.
No vehicle will be permitted to exit the Foreshore Road to enter Kamarajar Salai and the vehicles will be diverted towards Light House to take the route via Foreshore Notchikuppam Loop Road to reach South Canal Road.
