Receipt Row Hits MKU

MADURAI: The Joint Action Council (JAC) of the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) has demanded an inquiry into a scandal in the university guest house, where allegedly some staff members had fabricated receipts. Express is in possession of documents, which were submitted before the MKU convener committee a week ago. An MKU official is conducting an inquiry in this regard and the report is likely in 10 days. A highly-placed source said the guest house staff collected money from guests, but did not deposit it in MKU account. Murugesan of the MKU PR department had found that the register said more people stayed in the guest house in the past one year, but money did not reach the MKU account. The JAC also suspected wrongdoing in the MKU canteen, where proper accounts were not being maintained.
