CHENNAI: Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Saturday relieved Nanjil Sampath from the post of party’s deputy propaganda secretary. A statement from her attributed no reason for this development.

However, speculation is that Sampath’s interview given to a Tamil television channel early in the day led to his dismissal. In the interview, Sampath had apparently responded to questions in a manner that was against the party’s interests.

Sampath, former propaganda secretary of the MDMK, joined the AIADMK on December 4, 2014 and was appointed as the deputy propaganda secretary of the party by Jayalalithaa.

She also presented an Innova car to Sampath to carry out the party work in an efficient manner.
