DMK Man Held for Threatening Vaiko

MADURAI: Rural police have registered a case against a DMK functionary for allegedly threatening Vaiko during a public meeting held at Tirumangalam recently.

Police said M Rajendran, DMK functionary and former deputy chairman of Tirumangalam municipality, had made defamatory speech against MDMK general secretary Vaiko and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa during a DMK meeting in Tirumangalam on January 2. The meeting was chaired by Madurai south district secretary Manimaran.

Addressing the meeting, Rajendran alleged that Vaiko made money while he was in DMK.  However, when he split away from the party, he is trying to tarnish the image of the same, he added. He also threatened Vaiko that if he continues to speak against DMK, he would chop off his hands.
