CHENNAI:  Almost all opposition parties in the State Assembly - DMK, DMDK, CPM, CPI, Congress and Puthiya Thamizhagam - on Wednesday boycotted the address by the Governor K Rosaiah.  As soon the Governor began speaking, the DMK floor leader MK Stalin, and leaders of five other parties were on their feet blaming the government and announced their boycott.

Later, talking to mediapersons, Stalin and other leaders criticised the State government on many counts and hence boycotted the Governor’s address. Manithaneya Makkal Katchi members remained in the House.

Meanwhile, after chairing the Business Advisory Committee of the House, Speaker P Dhanapal told mediapersons that the current session would be for three days till January 23.

On January 21, the House would adopt resolutions condoling those who died in the recent floods, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, veteran Communist Party of India leader AB Bardhan and actor Manorama. A few Bills are expected to be tabled during the session.
