Summons Served On Corpn Commissioner

CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation Commissioner has been summoned by the second bench of Madras High Court for not complying with an order of the Housing and Urban Development Department Secretary relating to unauthorised buildings in two plots in Mogappair.

Originally, LG Ravi moved his PIL alleging that there were serious deviations from the rules in the buildings constructed in two plots adjacent to his house. Earlier, as per the orders of the High Court, the buildings had been sealed and desealed on several occasions. Finally, the owners of the unauthorised buildings filed an appeal before the Housing and Urban Development Secretary, who by his orders dated April 25, 2014, directed them to apply for a new planning permission from the Corporation of Chennai.

Also, the department  asked the owners to demolish the illegal structures within six months.
