PUDUCHERRY: Police arrested a twenty-year-old youth for sexually assaulting a 12 year old girl over the last seven months and a case under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences. Act, 2012 has been charged against him.
Sources identified the accused as Kumaresan alias Mohan (20), a resident of Kooturoad in Irumbai, who is conducting dance classes there.
Sources said the victim, a seventh standard student, travel to the Irumbai house of the dance teacher for attending the dance classes accompanied by her 14-year old brother. Some seven months back, the dance teacher visited the Govindasalai house of the victim, who was alone at that time.
Kumaresan on seeing the girl, who was coming out of the bathroom, locked the door of the house and sexually assaulted her. The victim tried to escape from the clutches of Kumaresan, who forced upon her. Kumaresan threatened the victim girl and not to reveal the matter to anyone.
However, the victim tried to tell her mother, who is working in a bakery, and her brother about the incident. But they did not take her seriously. After the incident, the 12 year old girl refused to attend the dance classes.
But the brother of victim forced her and took her to Kumaresan’s house. The dance teacher after engaging the 14 year-old by allowing him play games in his tablet, indulged in sexually abusing her repeatedly. A couple of days back, Kumaresan threatened her by burning the victim’s hand using hot iron rod, the sources said.
Unable to bear the assault, the victim girl confided the incidents to a neighbor, who helped to approach Child Welfare Committee.
The CWC officials summoned the girl and made inquiries with the victim. After finding the facts, the CWC officials recorded the statement of the victim.
A complaint has been lodged with the Grand Bazaar police, who made further enquiries.
The accused, Kumaresan, was arrested and case has been charged under sections of POCSO Act. The brother of the victim was also questioned by the police.
