Blaze licks compartment of train at Jolarpettai

VELLORE: One coach of the Sorna Express train caught fire at 2 am on Sunday burning the whole compartment down.

After dropping passengers, the 13 coach Sorna Express was stationed at Jolarpettai Railway station. The fifth coach caught fire when police inspector Arulanandharaja and other officers were supervising the lane.

While the Tirupattur Fire Station was notified immediately, Railway officers were advised not to douse the compartment with water as the main electricity line connected to the train had to be cut off.

While this was being done, the compartment was completely burned down. This accident caused a half-hour delay of other trains.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hector Dharmaraj, Jolarpettai Police Inspector Rathnasabapathi and Railway Inspector Rathnasabapathi are investigating the case.

Forensic officials were brought down later to find the actual cause of the fire. Further investigations were on.
