CHENNAI: The AIADMK (Amma) on Thursday filed a petition before the Election Commission seeking eight weeks’ time for filing the affidavits from elected representatives and office-bearers of the party regarding the appointment of the general secretary and Two Leaves symbol etc.

Counsel for AIADMK told Express, “The compilation of affidavits is so voluminous work; so we have sought more time.  The EC is yet to convey its decision. We were given time upto April 17.”
The EC, in its order dated March 22, recognised that there are two groups in the AIADMK and they should not use the Two Leaves symbol.

Later, the group led by VK Sasikala was named as AIADMK (Amma) and the group led by O Panneerselvam was named as AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma).  The EC gave time upto April 17 for adducing documents and affidavits to validate each party’s claims.
