Fire in lawn of Jaya’s residence at Siruthavur

The two-acre lawn in former Chief Minster J Jayalaithaa’s residence at Siruthavur in Kanchipuram district caught fire on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: The two-acre lawn in former Chief Minster J Jayalaithaa’s residence at Siruthavur in Kanchipuram district caught fire on Wednesday. The local fire station was informed about the fire around 2 pm. Two fire engines from Siruseri and Chengalpattu rushed to the spot and put out the fire after half-an-hour. “The two-acre lawn caught fire,” local fire service officials said. “As it was on the lawn, the fire spread rapidly. Someone must have thrown a cigarette or it might have been caused by heat.”
