COIMBATORE: After preliminary investigation conducted by Higher Education department revealed evidence of wrong doing, the State government has ordered the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption to conduct a detailed probe into the alleged irregularities committed in the recent recruitment process of Bharathiar University.

The University had disregarded the Higher Education department’s suggestions on recruitment more than once. “The government had evidence from various sources -- from VC’s own report, registrar’s report, documented communications of when the government asked BU to not hold syndicate and yet it was conducted,” said an official. Vice Chancellor A Ganapathy, however, said, “We have done everything as per norms and will prove that we are correct.”
