CHENNAI/MADURAI/THENI: A day after AIADMK deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran announced party positions for 60 people in the ruling faction, including 20 legislators, four of the MLAs turned down the offer. All four said they were happy there was a functional government under the leadership of Edappadi K Palaniswami, indicating their loyality to the chief minister. The four MLAs are A K Bose (Thirupparankundram), Satya Panneerselvam (Panruti), K Palani (Sriperumbudur) and K Kathirkamu (Periyakulam).
From the government’s side, Revenue Minister R B Udayakumar and Finance Minister D Jayakumar made it clear they were firm on keeping V K Sasikala’s family away from party affairs. The chief minister, however, maintained silence.
Udayakumar told media persons in Madurai that Dhinakaran had no locus standi to announce new office bearers as the Election Commission had not recognised him as the deputy general secretary of the ruling faction. He said Dhinakaran’s move would only create confusion at a time when the Palaniswami government was functioning in an efficient manner.
In Chennai, Dhinakaran crony P Vetrivel, a legislator, joined issue with Udayakumar, calling him a chameleon who switches loyalties often.
