CHENNAI: A 14-year-old girl with intellectual disabilities was sexually assaulted by an unidentified man who picked her up near her home and took her to many places before sending her back home four hours later, police said. The child, who was studying class 6, was playing on Sunday evening near her house in the city when a man on a motorcycle is believed to have taken her away by claiming her father asked him to bring her.“At around 4.30 pm the man approached the girl claiming that her father is searching for her. He seems to have taken her to a house and brought her biriyani. He then took her to a Tamil movie and in the theatre he had sexually abused the child,” said a senior police officer.

The suspect has apparently taken her along different routes before reaching the theatre and the girl is not able to recall the routes to the place. The child told police the man was known to her before, but not able to recollect his name. “After about four hours he made her board an autorickshaw and it dropped her at home. After reaching home, the child told her mother what happened,” said the officer.

But beyond the few clues like the “curly hair” and “dark skin”, the child was not able to tell police much about  the accused. A special team has been formed to investigate the case. Police have scanned CCTVs and lifted some footages from three places. “An image of the man is recorded in all three images, but the victim’s father says the person is not known to him,” said the officer. The victim’s father works as a lorry driver and mother is a homemaker. The father was out for work, when the girl was kidnapped.
