CHENNAI: Amid expectations that superstar Rajinikanth would make his much awaited political entry within a few months, Poonam Mahajan, national president, BJP’s Youth Wing, called on him at his residence on Sunday.  The meeting lasted about an hour.  Though it was described as a courtesy call, party sources said Mahajan indeed discussed politics.  BJP sources said Rajinikanth, during his visit to Mumbai recently, called on Poonam. This is Poonam’s return visit.  She is the daughter of former Union minister Pramod Mahajan.

Posting pictures ofher meeting, the BJP leader tweeted: “One of the most humble couples I have ever met; Lathaji and Thalaiva @superstar-rajiniji.”On Monday, speaking at the demonstration staged by the BJP’s State Youth Wing underscoring the failures of the State government on many counts, Poonam Mahajan was overwhelmed by the turnout at Chepauk. “Next time, when I speak to you, I will speak in Tamil and I will be a Tamil sister to you all here,” she said.
