CHENNAI: Senior AIADMK leader and Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha M Thambidurai on Sunday dismissed DMK working president M K Stalin’s threat of moving a no-confidence motion against the Tamil Nadu government. Talking to reporters at the Chennai airport, he pointed out that the government had already defeated a no-confidence motion moved by the DMK against Assembly  Speaker P Dhanapal.

“We have already countered the no-confidence motion brought by the DMK against (TN Assembly) Speaker Dhanapal and proved our strength,” he said, adding the DMK could not succeed in its attempts to destabilise the government. Avoding a direct reply to a question whether the Edappadi K Palaniswami faction would get support from T T V Dhinakaran’s supporters, Thambidurai said only because of difference of opinion, leaders had been functioning as separate blocs.
