TIRUVANNAMALAI: A 10-year-old girl student died at a hospital on Friday after she collapsed during a dance performance in the school the previous day. The deceased, R Abhinaya, was a Class V student of Panchayat Union Primary School-East in Vandavasi.
While performing a group dance along with her fellow students at a block-level cultural programme on Thursday around 12.30 pm, the girl collapsed on the stage.
The teachers and other school staff immediately sprinkled water on her face but she failed to regain consciousness. Abhinaya was taken to Vandavasi GH where the doctors reportedly told the teachers that the girl’s pulse was down. The girl was then taken to Government Medical College in Chengalpattu where she passed away.
