VIRUDHUNAGAR: Though digital calendars have taken the world by storm, craze for the monthly sheet and daily sheet paper calendars among the people makes it the market boss, with printers trying attract patronage by introducing newer designs to challenge the digital era.

Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district is a major hub for printing, cracker and matches industries in the country and the town is also known as Kutty Japan. There are hundreds of calendar manufacturing units functioning at Sivakasi. The rush these days is to manufacture calendars as 2018 approaches fast.

There are three types of calendars such as monthly sheet calendars, daily sheet calendars and table top calendars that are available in the market. Every year the calendar manufacturers would introduce new variety of calendars with attractive and innovative designs in order to attract the customers. Karpagaa Calendars which is one of the leading manufacturers is of daily sheet calendars for 29 years in Sivakasi.

During the year 2015, the company has introduced a new variety of calendar named ‘Mahakani’ which is a variety of table top calendar. While usually the table top calendars would have only monthly sheets, Mahakani which was introduced is a combination of monthly and daily calendar as it comes with small cake of daily sheets. The Mahakani calendar comes in the size of a standard table calendar 12.5 by 10 inches.
