CHENNAI: There was all round relief in DMK after a special CBI court acquitted all accused 2G spectrum scam, including party president M Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal, daughter Kanimozhi and former Union telecom minister A Raja.

Cadre burst crackers and distributed sweets outside the residences of Kanimozhi, party working president M K Stalin’s houses  at CIT Colony and Chittaranjan Salai, president M Karunanidhi’s house at Gopalapuram and party headquarters Anna Arivalayam at Teynampet. They shouted slogans hailing Karunanidhi, Kanimozhi and Stalin.

A large number of women cadre who gathered outside Kanimozhi’s residence raised slogans and distributed sweets. “It is a big victory for our thalaivi. We always hoped she would come clean,” said Malar, a supporter of Kanimozhi.

Delighted over the judgment that helped DMK shed the image of a party with the 2G taint, Stalin was so excited that he himself distributed sweets to those gathered at his residence. “Today a historic judgment has been delivered,” he said, adding “it was foisted and blown out of proportion.”

Both Stalin and Anbazhagan called on Karunanidhi. Emerging from the house, Stalin said his father was very happy with the outcome.
