CHENNAI: Squash player Joshna Chinappa has been appointed as the senior sports officer in Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited. She received the appointment order from CM Edappadi K Palaniswami. Chinappa took part in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and national and international events. An official press release said she had given a representation to the chief minister seeking placement in TNEB.
“With a view to encouraging her and to utilise her sports skills she has been appointed as the senior sports officer,” the release said. Talking to mediapersons, she said “Very thankful to Amma (Jayalalithaa) and CM Edappadi K Palaniswami for the opportunity. I hope I can do justice to my role as a senior sports officer.” Senior Ministers KA Sengottaiyan and P Thangamani, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, TANGEDCO Chairman M Saikumar and Energy Secretary Vikram Kapur were present.
