VELLORE: The plea of Nalini, one of the life convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, to shift her from Vellore Central Prison to Puzhal jail is likely to be accepted, claimed her Advocate P Pugalenthi here on Wednesday.

According to him, top officials from the state government had assured that Nalini’s request would get positive nod from the state government in another few days. Pugalenthi claimed that she will get shifted to Puzhal within ten days.

However, when Express contacted, prison officials in Vellore said that they were yet to get any official word. Nalini held fasting from 13 to 17 June demanding to shift her from Vellore prison to Puzhal jail. After officials assured that her request was being considered on top priority, she ended her fast on June 18.

Pugalenthi alleged that the prison authorities have been instigating other prisoners to act against her, causing mental stress to her as reason for the plea.
