Doctor verifies identification marks of actor Dhanush in parentage case

Actor Dhanush on Tuesday appeared before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court in connection with a parentage case.

MADURAI: Actor Dhanush on Tuesday appeared before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court in connection with a parentage case.

A government doctor verified the identification marks on his body. As directed, the Madurai Medical College (MMC) Dean submitted a report in a sealed cover. The petition was adjourned to March 2.

In his petition, Dhanush alias Dhanush K Raja, from T Nagar in Chennai, said the couple – R Kathiresan (65) and K Meenakshi (53), residents of Melur in Madurai – had filed a private complaint before the Judicial Magistrate Court, Melur, claiming that he was their son and failed to provide them maintenance. But, it was completely false as his parents were director Krishnamoorthi alias Kathuri Raja, who directed his first film Thulluvatho Ilamai, and Vijayalakshmi.

He further said that in their complaint, the couple had maintained he was born on November 7, 1985, at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. He did his schooling up to Standard X in two schools in Melur. Kathiresan had submitted a Transfer Certificate claiming to be that of their son and as if issued by Headmaster of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Melur.

Dhanush said even the identification marks mentioned in the TC were false. He did not have the marks, including a mole on left clavicle bone part and a scar on left elbow. (However, a school TC submitted by Dhanush did not have any of the identification marks which he has.)

In a counter-affidavit, Kathiresan said there was every possibility of disfiguration of identification marks now. Simply filing an affidavit will not prove that he did not have those marks. Justice G Chockalingam directed MMC dean M R Vairamuthu Raju to conduct the verification of identification marks in the presence of High Court Registrar (Judicial) and to submit a report stating whether Dhanush had such identification marks and whether there was any attempt medically to disfigure such marks.
