Panneerselvam group promises first-ever mobile MLA office in election manifesto

The 108-point manifesto also promised the setting up of an inquiry commission to probe Jayalalithaa’s death,  converting her residence into a memorial and steps to re-unite the party.

CHENNAI: Constituting an inquiry commission to probe the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, a mobile MLA office - perhaps the first of its kind in the country - and conversion of Kodungaiyur dumpyard into a township are among the promises of AIADMK-Puratchi Thalaivi Amma, led by former chief minister O Panneerselvam, for the RK Nagar bypoll.

After opening the election office at Kothandaramar  Street in RK Nagar on Thursday, Panneerselvam released the 108-point manifesto.

“The Kodungaiyur dumpyard causes environmental degradation and health hazards. The entire space will be given a facelift by converting it into a beautiful township by establishing industrial clusters. Artificial springs and a boathouse will also come up,” the manifesto stated.

Steps for constructing a bus terminus at IOC, coaching centre for IAS and IPS aspirants, quality drinking water, drainage to tackle mosquito menace, a fish sale point at the coastal area and establishing two high schools and a higher secondary school in the RK Nagar segment were the other key promises.

The manifesto also promised the setting up of an inquiry commission to probe Jayalalithaa’s death,  converting her residence into a memorial and steps to re-unite the party.

RK Nagar candidate E Madhusudanan, former ministers KP Munusamy, C Ponnaiyan, former Speaker P H Pandian, MLAs S Semmalai and ‘Ma Foi’ K Pandiarajan and former MP Manoj Pandian were among those present.
