PUDUCHERRY: In a first in India, Pondy police introduced self-balancing electric scooter for patrolling along the seaside promenade.
Police patrolling was arranged at the road to ensure the security of thousands who visit the promenade during holidays and evenings
Puducherry DGP Sunil Kumar Gautam flagged off the scooters at a special event. He said it would spare the policemen the trouble of walking all the way from one end of the beach road to another
Four scooters are dedicated for patrolling. While two were purchased, the remaining were donated.
During the inaugural ceremony two women police personnel collided each other, indicating inexperience in handling the vehicle .
