A murder accused, Subramani of Velliyampattu village near Gingee was granted bail in 1993. Once out, he went under the radar of the police, who searched everywhere, but to no avail.
After SP Jeyakumar took over, he decided to nab miscreants who have been evading arrest. On his orders, police began to keep a close watch on Subramani’s family. The murder accused, who now owned a mobile, contacted his family off and on. Once the police got a whiff, they began to investigate with renewed zeal.
A team of Vikrawandi police again kept a strict vigil on the family of Subramani and found out that he was hiding at the ldyllic Thudaipanchavady village at Mandya district in Karnataka. The team immediately rushed to Thudaipanchavady village and nabbed him on Saturday.
