TIRUVARUR: Koradacherry police on Monday arrested a teacher of a government higher secondary school in Kulikkarai for forcibly giving a haircut to a Class 8 student in the school recently.

According to sources, on Saturday the teacher Vijaya asked the 13-year- old-boy to trim his hair. The boy reportedly said he could not do so since his father was scheduled to go on pilgrimage to Sabarimala. Following this, Vijaya allegedly gave a scissor to another student and asked him to trim the boy’s hair.

Though the student refused initially, she later took the victim to the toilet and cut the hair.
Following an investigation by Education department officials, the teacher was placed under suspension. Meanwhile, the father of the student lodged a complaint with the police and arrested the class teacher.
