Plea in Madras HC seeks not to consider class XI marks for admissions

The PIL petition prayed for a directive to the School Education secretary not to consider the class 11 marks while calculating the passing-out marks for college admissions.

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the School Education department to decide on a plea not to take into account the marks obtained in the class 11 examination for admission in higher studies.
The first bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Abdul Quddhose gave the directive while disposing of a PIL petition from a Puducherry-based advocate on Friday.

The PIL petition prayed for a directive to the School Education secretary not to consider the class 11 marks while calculating the passing-out marks for college admissions.“The petitioner may make a representation to the School Education secretary, who may consider and take a decision, upon consultation with the experts,” the bench said.
