CHENNAI: THE Madras High Court has directed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to probe the encroachment of the land belonging to Sri Thirukuttralanatha Swamy Temple in Courtallam in Tirunelveli district.

Justice S M Subramaniam gave the direction when a writ petition from L Dhanasekaran came up for hearing last week.

The DVAC has to investigate the aspects of collusion between the authorities for the unauthorised occupation of the temple property for the past more than two decades without even paying the monthly rent to the temple. The arrears ran into more than `35 lakh.
