‘Congress will have tie-ups till it can win on its own’, says TNCC president S Thirunavukkarasar

The Congress can come to power in Tamil Nadu in the future, but till then, it would have alliances with other parties as directed by the high command.

ERODE: The Congress can come to power in Tamil Nadu in the future, but till then, it would have alliances with other parties as directed by the high command, TNCC president S Thirunavukkarasar said at a meeting of the Erode South district unit here.

“We should work to bring Kamaraj rule in the State. It might not happen in next election or the one after that. But one day, the Congress will come to power and we should work with that aim,” he said.
Now, Congress is the second largest party in TN after the DMK. The present government has the support of MLAs but not of the people, who had voted for the late Jayalalithaa, he said. At the national level, there is no third or fourth front. The Congress is the only alternative to the BJP. Answering questions from media persons, he said that the HC’s verdict on the disqualification of the 18 dismissed MLAs could even lead to a mid-term election.
