Homework relief soon for kids of classes 1 and 2 in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: The circular on ‘no home work’ to children studying in classes 1 and 2  will be sent to all CBSE schools in two weeks, the CBSE told Justice N Kirubakaran on Tuesday.

CBSE counsel told this to the judge, when the writ petition from advocate M Purushothaman, challenging the CBSE circular dated July 29, 2017 and seeking to direct the Department of School Education and the Literacy Human Resource Development Ministry, New Delhi and NCERT, Bengaluru to instruct the CBSE schools to buy books published by the NCERT alone and not the books published by private publishers, came up before the court.

G Nagarajan, standing counsel for the CBSE, submitted that with regard to the compliance with the order of banning home work, a circular was yet to be issued and he assured that it would be done in two weeks.
G Karthikeyan, Assistant Solicitor General, produced a letter dated June 29 last of the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development, asking the Department of School Education and Literacy, the Principal Secretary/Secretary (Education), and all state governments/UT administration to follow the directions of the judge.
