CHENNAI: AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday finalised the 11 members of the steering committee for the party at the meeting of party district secretaries. An official announcement in this regard is expected within a day or two.

The steering committee is becoming a reality after 11 months of its announcement on August 21 last year when the faction led by O Panneerselvam shook hands with the faction led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The sources said both leaders addressed the party office-bearers on the importance of being united at this moment and not to believe the rumours about differences of opinion between them doing the rounds.
Sources further said that so far 1.15 crore membership renewals had been completed and both leaders had advised the office-bearers to return the rest of the renewal forms soon.

The data entry about the members is likely to be completed in a couple of months and smart card type of membership card with the pictures of late party leaders and those of Panneerselvam and Palaniswami would be issued in due course. At the MPs meeting, it was advised to oppose the Dam Safety Bill and Higher Education Commission of India Bill during the winter session of Parliament which will begin on July 18.
