Ten new bridges inaugurated; Tamil Nadu gets two new sub-treasuries

CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday inaugurated a two-way railway overbridge at Pothanur in Coimbatore, constructed at a cost of `22.60 crores.  He opened this bridge through the video-conferencing facility at the secretariat. In all, he opened three railway bridges and seven river bridges constructed at a total cost of `160.34 crores. Palaniswami also declared open two sub-treasuries, each at Avadi in Tiruvallur district and Ponnamaravathi in Pudukottai district. 

The overbridge at Pothanur will benefit people in Pothanur, Vellalur, Mettur, Konavaikkalpalayam, Kurichi and Chettipalayam and would ease traffic congestion in North Coimbatore and along the Pothanur-Chettipalayam Road, an official release here said.   The CM has also inaugurated the following facilities:

A bridge across the Vellaru river near Bhuvanagiri in Cuddalore district (`22.57 crore), a bridge across the Old Coleroon river between Nandimangalam and Poolamedu (`7.32 crore), branches of railway bridge on the Tiruchy MSP Camp Road (74 crore), a railway bridge at Kumaraswamypettai in Dharmapuri district (`22.60 crore), Pazhaiyur on the Valavadi-Therkkubhoodanam Road in Tirupur district (`1.65 crore), Nagarpalayam Road in Erode district (`1.60 crore), and a bridge at Kumarapuram on Puliyankudi-Sankarankoil-Kazhugumalai-Nalattinputhur Road in Thoothukudi district (`two crore). 

CM condoles the death of TV scribe, grants three Lakhs
Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday condoled the death of Malaimurasu TV correspondent Shalini in a road accident near Dindigul on Sunday.  Conveying his deep condolences to the family of Shalini and Malaimurasu TV, the CM announced that `3 lakh would be granted to the bereaved family, as a special case, from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.   Meanwhile, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, condoling the untimely death of Shalini, gave a financial assistance of `1 lakh to her family.  DMK working president MK Stalin also condoled the death of Shalini.
