Apollo Hospital launches modern scan machines

Apollo Hospitals launched sophisticated scan machines at Apollo Cancer Centre here on Thursday.

CHENNAI: Apollo Hospitals launched sophisticated scan machines at Apollo Cancer Centre here on Thursday. According to a release from the hospital, Dr Prathap C Reddy, executive chairman, Apollo Hospitals group, inaugurated PET, CT scan and Gallium 68 scan machines.

Gallium 68 series scanning machine is a radioactive diagnostic test used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The G68 scan allows the surgeons to pinpoint the precise location of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) before beginning a surgery. It will enable faster and accurate stereotactic detection of tumours. Benefits are its quick and easy scan, less discomfort to the patient. Wide and short tunnel helps in reducing the claustrophobia and also is convenient for obese patients.Preetha Reddy, vice chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group, also participated in the event.
