MADURAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths have registered a case against the executive engineer of Madurai Corporation and his wife on charges of amassing disproportionate assets.
SM Rajendran, the executive engineer of zone-II in the corporation, and his wife D Irene of Anthaneri were booked on Saturday over suspicion on their source of income. Sources said that the couple has a son who just completed his M.Tech from a private engineering college.
Since his son and wife were not working, Rajendran had been the family’s only source of income, the sources added.
