Three Naxals Arrested in Warangal

WARANGAL: The Mahabubabad police have arrested a three members of a dalam of Communist Party of United States of India (CPUSI) and also recovered two 'tapanchas' from them on Thursday night. 

The arrested were identified as  Siraboina Krishnamurthy (36) alias Madhav, State committee member of CPUSI, Shilpaka Shankar (30) and Bhukya Jayaram (27).  While the former two are from Warangal district, the latter belonged to Khammam district.  

Presenting them before a press  conference at Mahabubabad in the district on Friday, Warangal range DIG B Malla Reddy said that the arrested in association with two others -Koti of  Warngal district and Naveen Reddy of Khammam district-had purchased three tapanchas from Bihar State and formed a dalam to earn easy money about three months ago. 

They have threatened owners of granite quarries, stone crushing units, and other traders in Narasampet, Mangapet, Palakurthy , Sangem, Maripeda and Mahabubabad ares in the district and extorted money from them. 

However, the police have nabbed the three members of the gang on  Thursday night after a vehicle check up.  "A  police team  was moving in a jeep towards Narasmapet road after conducting a vehicle check up around 7 pm in Mahabubabad town. 

Meanwhile, a five-member gang noticing the police jeep had tried to ran away from the spot. But some shepherds have caught hold the fleeing persons suspecting them as the thieves.   However, the gang members had managed to escaped from them.  Meanwhile, SI P Madhu, who was on patrolling,  got information about an attack on the shepherds by same gang.

Responding to this, SI rushed to the spot and nabbed  two members -Krishnamurthy and Shankar- though the Krishna Murthy opened fire at the police,"  DIG said adding that the police  had also recovered one tapancha from them. 

Later, DSP Nagaraju and CI  B Nandiram Naik, who had launched search operation, have nabbed  Jayaram on the outskirts of Salar thanda and recovered one tapancha, three 8 mm live rounds and some explosive materials from the spot.   

But two others Naveen Reddy and Koti had, however,  managed escape from the scene.  "During the interrogation, the dalam members confessed to have committed the many offences," said DIG Malla Reddy. 

SP Ambar Kishor Jha and  DSP Nagaraju were also present at the press meet.
