Maoists Thrash Six People in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: Maoists have allegedly assaulted six persons at Mukunur village in Mahadevpur mandal on Saturday night.

Sources said, a team of nearly 50 Maoists led by Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal (KKW) division committee secretary Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar arrived at the village by crossing Godavari from Chhattisgarh. They dragged the six people to a center of the village and thrashed them, accusing them of being police informers. They threatened others of similar consequences if they work as police informers. The injured persons were taken to a hospital in Warangal for treatment. Since, the village lies deep inside the forest, nearly 60 km away from Mahadevpur police station, the police were not able to reach the spot.

“We have not received any complaints so far. However, a case has been registered against the Maoists suo motu,”  said Kataram circle inspector G Krishna. Karimangar, officer on special duty (OSD), L Subbarayudu said the Maoists have attacked innocent villagers only to make their presence felt.
