HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will lay the foundation stone for 396 houses (G+2) in 33 blocks at the IDH Colony and four other slums, Ammuguda, Pardhiwada, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Subash Chandra Bose Nagar on Oct 3. The estimated cost of construction is pegged at `36.54 crore.

The decision to construct new houses was taken after the Chief Minister personally inspected the dilapidated houses at IDH Colony on Sept 1. He had announced that in five months, IDH Colony and four other slums will be converted into model colonies and land pattas issued to the beneficiaries. Infrastructure like a school, vegetable market, community hall and other basic amenities like underground drainage and drinking water supply would also be provided. The Chief Minister asked residents of the five slums to vacate immediately so that construction could start soon.

He also made it clear they need not pay beneficiary contribution and even the bank loan, as the government will bear the entire expenditure.

The model housing colony layout would be developed by the GHMC.KCR.JPG
