9.43 Lakh people Apply for Food Security Cards in RR Dist

HYDERABAD : Over 3 lakh applications for pensions and 9.43 lakh applications for Food Security Cards have been received in Ranga Reddy district so far. This was revealed bydistrict collector N Sridhar at the zilla parishad meeting held here on Friday.

The meeting, presided over by zilla parishad chairperson P Sunita Mahendar Reddy, discussed about 60 topics but primarily focused on  farm loan waiver, food security cards, pensions, caste and income certificates.     

Opposition members charged the ruling party with ‘lackadaisical’ approach to making necessary arrangements at the counters set up to receive applications for food security cards and various other welfare schemes of the government.

TDP members accused the government of indifference to farmers who were reeling under drought. Some others alleged that several pensioners had not been paid for two months and demanded an explanation from the chairperson.
