Panchaloha Idols Worth Rs 2 Crore Seized, 1 Held

KARIMNAGAR:  Solving a four year old idol theft case, Karimangar CCS Police arrested an accused, Burra Sailu and seized four panchaloha idols worth Rs 2 crore, here on Saturday. Addressing media persons, SP V Shiva Kumar revealed that a police team led by CCS CI Madhavi raided the house of Sailu and arrested him along with the idols.

He said that Burra Sailu, along with two friends, had stolen the idols of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Goddess Seetha and Goda Devi from Pothgal village temple in Mustabad mandal.

The other two accused - B Tirupati and L Yellaiah - are no more. In another incident, CCS police arrested two inter-district burglars and recovered 52 tolas of gold worth Rs 7.80 lakh, 86 tolas of silver worth Rs 25,800 and Rs 55,000 in cash from them.

The accused persons, Chall Mahesh of Devarampalli in Kataram mandal and Bommakanti Sravan of Balvanathapur in Malyal mandal, became friends while undergoing jail term in 2013.

SP and Additional SP B Janaradhan Reddy appreciated the CCS and Rural police and presented rewards to the police personel, who solved the case.
