HYDERABAD: With the state all set to be a hub for industries, businessmen and CEOs of various companies, the state government wants the Star Hotels in the city to cater to them in all ways and more particularly foreign liquor.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday reviewed the proposed new liquor policy of the State. The existing policy will end by this month end.
‘’With the introduction of the new industrial policy, businessmen, industrialists and CEOs will arrive in the city. The star hotels should be in a position to serve them foreign liquor,’’ Rao told the officials.
‘’Analyse the floating population in Hyderabad and other cities in the state and see that there are wine shops and bars according to it,’’ Rao said. Rao also wanted the officials put an end to consumption of liquor on the roads, near wine shops and drunken brawls on the roads. ‘‘Hyderabad has got a good reputation world wide. We should uphold the reputation before the people coming from other states and countries who come to invest in the state,’’ Rao said.
The chief minister also wanted the quantum of liquor consumed in the state be produced in the state itself. ‘’If need be, set up more breweries in the state,’’ he said.
He wanted the entire demand for Indian Made Foreign Liquor in Telangana be met by distilleries in the state. He instructed the officials to tackle the menace of gudamba which is destroying lives of many people.
