Kavitha Welcomes Rail Budget

HYDERABAD:The TRS, which is cosying up to the ruling BJP at the Centre, reacted cautiously to the railway budget. While welcoming the announcement of new railway lines, they took exception to some reforms taken up by the Centre.

TRS MP from Nizamabad K Kavitha welcomed the allocation of Rs 141 crore for the Nizamabad-Peddapalli railway line. “This could be achieved only because the State was divided,’’ she said and also welcomed initiatives like installation of CCTVs in women’s coaches.

Kavitha, however, said the move to involve state governments in the development of railways was unfair as the revenue from the railways goes to the Centre. Another TRS MP B Vinod Kumar welcomed the allocation of Rs 20 crore to the Kothapalli-Manoharabad line.

BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya termed the budget ‘satisfactory’ and said there is need for states to invest in the railways.
