KCR to Distribute House Pattas to 15,000 Beneficiaries

HYDERABAD: House pattas will be distributed to about 15,000 eligible applicants under GO 58 on June 2 on the occasion of State Formation Day. While about 64,000 applications have been received for regularisation of dwellings of less than 125 square yards in unobjectionable government lands in Hyderabad, up to 15,000 applications have been identified as eligible for issuing house pattas. Already more than 14,000 pattas have been printed and printed copies of remaining pattas will made ready by Monday.

As chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will personally hand over house pattas, about five to ten eligible persons may be selected from Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, for receiving pattas during the State Formation Day celebrations, officials said.

While there are 16 mandals in Hyderabad district, most of the house pattas belong to Khairatabad, Sheikpet and Maredpally mandals where most of the slums are located. While 4,454 pattas relate to dwellings in Khairtabad mandal, 3,807 pattas of Sheikpet mandal and 2069 pattas belong to Maredpally mandal.

Besides pattas under GO 58, there are about 5,000 pattas relating to regularisation under GO 59. Under GO 59 constructions of more than 125 square yards or applications belonging to above poverty line families will be regularised.

While some applications received under GO 58 have been converted into GO 59, in most of the cases revenue officials have been liberal in verification of applications and even regularised dwellings in objectionable lands to make sure that more number of applicants are benefited, said an official.
