TS Proposes to Reorganise Two Zones for Filling Posts

The law department is mulling increasing the number of zones or retaining the status quo for rearranging districts under each of the present two zones

HYDERABAD: After the announcement by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to issue notification for 25,000 posts in July which has brought cheers to unemployed in the state, here’s another piece of news that would surely add to the joy of job aspirants.

Towards ensuring minimum competition from AP students vis-a-vis recruitment for zonal posts, the state government is mulling reorganising the current two zones located in the state.

The law department is currently working on this proposal to see the viability of the option to ensure that it is in compliance with the Article 371(D)of the Constitution, a senior official of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) told Express.

In united AP, there were six zones. Post-bifurcation, four zones came under the jurisdiction of successor state of AP, namely zone-I,II,III and IV. Telangana is left with two zones, namely zone-V and VI.

The various options being studied by the law department is increasing number of zones or retaining the status quo with rearrangement of districts under each of the present two zones.

One of the major view before the government is to redefine the open category in the wake of bifurcation.

In united AP, except the students from districts under the particular zone, all others from remaining districts were allowed to compete under open category.

With the bifurcation, the state government intends to restrict the ‘open’ category to 10 districts of Telangana leaving behind 13 districts of AP. Legal opinion is being sought by the government to avoid hassles in the form of court cases.

Corporations, PSUs recruitment by TSPSC:

Unlike Public Service Commission in united AP, the TSPSC will also carry out recruitment for various corporations, public sector units, local bodies among others, the official informed.

The state government has made these changes to this effect while adopting the PSC regulations from united AP.

The TSPSC has thus far received requisition from the Telangana State Beverages Corporation and Public Health wing of Municipal Administration to fill 350 and 630 posts respectively.
