PIL in HC Seeking Direction to TS Government to Appoint VCs

HYDERABAD:A public interest litigation was filed in the Hyderabad High Court seeking directions to the Telangana government to take steps for appointing vice-chancellors to various universities in the state.

Petitioner the Forum for Good Governance, voluntary organization represented by its secretary M Padmanabha Reddy of the city, submitted that the Telangana government has failed to appoint vice-chancellors to as many as 10 universities in the state.  Besides, these universities were functioning with less than 50 pc of the sanctioned teaching staff.

The petitioner further said that the universities may lose funds from UGC due to lack of vice-chancellors and required teaching staff.  The matter is expected to come up for hearing  on Monday.
