It wasn't an AK-47 Bayonet but Just a Knife, Claim Cops

KARIMNAGAR:The State Intelligence Unit conducted a search operation to solve the mystery of the bayonet of the AK-47, thrown from a TSRTC bus at Kurikyal village in Gangadhara mandal, which created a sensation in the district on Saturday.

An ASP rank officer from Hyderabad conducted the operation. CCTV footage from the Jagtial and Karimnagar bus stations was examined.

The police team also checked ticket records of the TSRTC bus (AP29 Z 1483) and found that nobody got off from the bus after it departed. No evidence has been found yet due to lack of clarity, police sources said. In view of terrorist activities reported from the district in the past, the police is taking extra precautionary measures this time. The police personnel visited Jagtial bus depot and  collected ticket reports pertaining to the bus (AP29 Z 1483) and even questioned bus driver Anjaiah. Based on the driver’s report, the police have come to the conclusion that no one got down from the bus in Karimnagar.

The rifle bayonet, which has been sent to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory has been examined by experts. SP D Joel Davis, however, told reporters it was not a bayonet, but a knife that can be ordered online.

The police also took photographs and addresses of all the 32 passengers who had travelled in the bus. Meanwhile, the driver was reportedly questioned even by the Maharashtra police.
