HYDERABAD: To drum up support for Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to districts in the state, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao will tour Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. He had already visited Mahbubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts.
Rahul Gandhi is expected to tour four to five villages in both Karimnagar and Adilabad districts on May 9 or 10. He will take on K Chandrasekhar Rao’s dispensation for the continuing farmers’ suicides in the state. An eight kilometre padayatra has been planned as part of his visit. Speaking to media persons here Friday, Hanumantha Rao urged his fellow Congressmen to contribute to the families of farmers who had committed suicide. He said that he would donate `1 lakh for the cause.
Rahul Gandhi would interact with farmers to know about the damage they had suffered during the recent unseasonal rains and expose the Modi government on the proposed changes to the Land Bill, he said.
Referring to the High Court’s decision to allow farmers to use their lands for cultivation in the AP capital region, he said it was a “historic” ruling.
