Kadiam Meets Naidu

HYDERABAD: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on Tuesday urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to supply pulpwood to the AP Rayons Factory in Warangal district, which has been shut down for the last six months, at concessional rates. Kadiam met Naidu at the latter’s chambers in the Secretariat and requested him to continue the supply of pulpwood to the factory. About 70 per cent of pulpwood supply comes from AP to the paper industries in both TS and AP.

Later speaking to reporters, Kadiam said the AP Chief Minister had responded positively and promised all possible help to revive the factory. Kadiam said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao during his recent visit to the district had assured the workers that he would look into the matter. Stating that Ballarpur Industries Limited that runs AP Rayons has been shut for the last six months, Kadiyam said 3,000 persons are directly employed while the factory provides indirect employment to over 20,000. It could be revived with a little bit of effort, he said.
