Shabbir Dares KCR to Explain His Finances

HYDERABAD: Opposition leader in the State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao declare his assets and disclose his sources of income.

Shabbir Ali, along with another MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, at a press conference here, took potshots at KCR, particularly over the latter’s speeches at the just-concluded training camp for TRS MPs and MLAs at Nagarjunasagar.

Shabbir Ali said he was surprised that Rao was speaking of morality, ethics, commitment, corruption and good governance at the training classes.

“Rao appeared like a changed man when he spoke about morals, ethics and corruption. Less than an hour later, after the event, Rao addressed a public meeting in Ibrahimpatnam, organised by local MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, who defected to TRS from TDP. Is it not unethical to promote defections in other parties?” the Congress MLC asked.

He demanded that the CM disclose his assets which he had accumulated from 2001 after floating the TRS. “In his affidavit to the Election Commission in 2004, Rao disclosed his assets as `85.98 lakh. But, as per his affidavit filed for 2014 polls, his assets grew to Rs 15.15 crore. KCR should explain how his properties increased by almost 17 times in a decade,” he said.
