HYDERABAD: The Congress on Saturday came down heavily on the BJP and TRS for their opposition and remarks against the proposed visit of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to console the families of farmers who ended their lives in Telangana.

‘‘It is the people who are in the government to be responsible to come to the aid of the farmers who are in distress.

Since they have failed, the opposition and Rahul Gandhi are coming to the rescue of farmers,’’ TPCC spokesperson Dasoju Sravan told reporters here.

Sravan said that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi gave separate Telangana for the people, and more particularly farmers, to flourish. ‘’Sonia Gandhi gave Telangana not to see farmers die or commit suicide,’’ he said.Sravan said the TRS government at the state misled the Centre about the farmers suicides by claiming that only 69 farmers have committed suicide. ‘’Without verifying this, the minister concerned announced the same in the Parliament,’’ Sravan said and asked whether the BJP in Telangana state will admit that only 69 farmers have committed suicide. Sravan also alleged that the TRS and BJP are conniving with each other to make sure that the Land Acquisition Bill is passed.

On TRS MP K Kavitha’s comments whether Rahul Gandhi had a magic wand to solve the problems of the farmers, Sravan said there is no need for a magic wand but humanity that is needed at this hour.

Rahul Padayatra Route Not Decided Yet

The route of Rahul Gandhi’s Rythu Bharosa Yatra is likely to see come changes. Initially, it was proposed that the  padayatra would start from Vadiya and passes through Rachapur, Pattlapally, Laxmanchanda and culminate at Koritikal. However, this might be changed and Rahul Gandhi might start from Koritikal and end his yatra at Vadiya instead, sources said adding the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) should give its clearance for the route. The SPG officials are likely to reach the state two or three days before the scheduled day of Rahul Gandhi’s arrival and take a final call and also review the security arrangements.
