HYDERABAD:In a shocking twist to the alleged kidnap, gangrape and murder of a 15-year-old at Bantawaram in Rangareddy district, Telangana, it has now turned out that the victim’s father himself had raped and killed her in an inebriated condition.

Seen weeping inconsolably by her body on Friday, Meghawath Kamal, 38, was arrested on Saturday, but not before police teams went on a wild goose chase to nab the five alleged culprits, including an autorickshaw driver, who he claimed, had abducted, raped and killed his daughter.

District SP M Srinivas said, “Going by his body language and contradictory versions and circumstantial evidence, we suspected his role and finally, he confessed that it was he who had raped and killed his daughter”.

The police, quoting Kamal, said he consumed liquor after arriving in Vikarabad from Hyderabad.

“Later, he drove his daughter towards Ijrachittempally Thanda on a TVS XL motorcycle. As they reached an isolated place, he halted his bike and raped her. After forcing himself on his daughter, Kamal strangulated her to death even as she pleaded with him to spare her,” police sources said. Kamal, who was involved in a robbery case earlier, told the police he killed his daughter fearing that she might inform her mother about his act.
